The repository has zero stars. The article was opened four times, three of them by you. The question of what for arrives around the second month.
An audience is bad fuel. Not because vanity is bad, but for a mechanical reason: it is not under your control and it arrives years late, if it arrives at all. Fuel that comes irregularly and without your involvement is no good for work that has to happen on a Wednesday evening.
What follows is predictable. Work that runs on views ends exactly where there are not any yet — at the very start, when there is nowhere for them to come from.
What is left is what can be checked today. Is it clearer now. Does the thing work that did not work yesterday. Did a test pass that did not exist yesterday.
That sounds like consolation for people nobody reads. It is not consolation. It is the only report available while the work is happening: the others come later or not at all.
There is an honest side effect worth knowing in advance. It gets duller. External recognition gives a spike; an internal check gives a flat zero.
A flat zero is harder to live on. It also does not run out.
