About

Backend developer working mainly in Python with Django and FastAPI, PostgreSQL and Docker. For my thesis I built a web portal for an academic journal and then deployed it myself on a university server: PostgreSQL, Nginx, Gunicorn, and login through the university's corporate SSO. Besides web work I have built machine learning and computer vision projects, including real time detection on video with YOLO, image classifiers, and a geospatial analysis pipeline. I am looking for my first full time backend role where I can write code every day and grow fast.

Systems development and support group · production internship
  • Deployed a Django portal on the university's internal infrastructure: PostgreSQL, Gunicorn behind Nginx, static and media file serving.
  • Set up single sign-on with the university corporate account over OpenID Connect.
  • Moved the project from dev to production: pulled secrets out of the code, turned off debug, restricted allowed hosts, configured system email.
  • Loaded real journal issues into the archive and verified metadata export to XML.

Practical work on internal services during my studies
  • Built a class schedule web service: wrote a large SQL query that assembled the timetable from several related tables, and integrated it into the university's internal Go (Golang) services.
  • Developed the student personal account portal: schedule, grade book, profile and news, with a responsive interface (miigaik-lk).
  • Worked inside an existing infrastructure: read other people's code, kept to shared conventions, and got changes to a working state.

Portal for the journal "Izvestia Vuzov. Geodesy and Aerophotography" with issue archive management
  • Designed the database and the server side, built the whole portal, and deployed it on a university server.
  • Built an admin panel for the editorial team: issues, articles, inline forms. Enforced a rule that only one issue can be current at a time.
  • Added corporate SSO login, a personal account, and role based access. Closed common web vulnerabilities (CSRF, XSS, SQL injection).
  • Added metadata export to XML for bibliographic databases. Covered the system with tests at several levels.

  • A Streamlit app that finds events in the frame in real time: YOLO for detection, InsightFace for face recognition.
  • Works with a webcam and video files, produces CSV reports and statistics.

  • A pipeline that suggests where to open a fitness center: data from OpenStreetMap, an H3 hex grid, an attractiveness model in scikit-learn, and interactive maps.

  • Compared three architectures (dense, a simple CNN, a VGG style net). The best one reached F1 0.88. Served inference through FastAPI with a Streamlit interface.
